


Heavy Rains affected Lower Sindh
Districts Sanghar,.
Sindh Province is prone to droughts and floods; this year super flood hit all of Pakistan. However recent heavy Monsoon rains harshly drenched 3 districts of Lower Sindh. Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Tharparker districts were facing acute shortage of water till the month of July 2011 and seasonal migrants of Tharparker praying for rain for the water in Thar. On 8th September 2011 Monsoon rains started in Lower Sindh and break all histories of 52 years, it was recorded rain fall of 152 Millimeters in spell of 3 days whereas normally less than 100 MM downpour happens in the region throughout the year
According to the media reports so far more than half a million people has displaced and 8000 villages completely or partially demolished due flash floods that occurred from breached canals . The severe damaged occurred to cotton crop which was ready to harvest and the livestock of the people.
